Dr. Saira Khaderi has joined Liver Specialists of Texas.
Dr. Joseph Galati is pleased to announce that Dr. Khaderi has joined Liver Specialists of Texas, increasing patient access to specialized liver care, from one of America's largest liver practices.
Saira Khaderi, M.D. was born in Indiana but moved to Houston at a young age. She attended the University of Houston and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1999 with a major in Biology and minor in Chemistry. In 2001 Saira completed her Masters in Public Health from the University of Texas School of Public Health. She attended medical school from 2001-2005 at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. In 2008, Dr. Khaderi completed her Internal Medicine Residency at the world renowned Cleveland Clinic Foundation. It was there that Dr. Khaderi discovered her passion for hepatology. After working a few years in private practice, Saira is thrilled to be joining the Liver Specialists of Texas in the fall of 2010.
Dr. Khaderi’s area of specialty in hepatology centers around the various metabolic forms of liver disease, including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, metabolic syndrome, and the systemic complications of cirrhosis and portal hypertension. Dr. Khaderi is a co-investigator on all of the research studies currently underway with Dr. Galati and Research Specialists of Texas, including new drugs in the treatment of chronic hepatitis C, as well as new delivery systems for interferon in the management of viral hepatitis.
Dr. Khaderi is a firm believer in treating both the disease and the patient. She also feels it’s vital that patients understand their disease so they can make educated decisions alongside their physician.
Dr. Khaderi is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Her non-work interests include home improvement projects and spending time with her husband and two small children, Isa and Sofiya.
