			<title>New Hepatitis C Research Study to Begin</title>
			<description>Dr. Joseph S. Galati and Liver Specialists of Texas are pleased to announce the start of a new investigational study for patients with hepatitis C.  The study, sponsored by the pharmaceutical company Tibotec, will be studying their new drug VX-950, which has a commercial name of Telaprevir. This is a drug in the class of protease inhibitors, a potent class of drugs the prevent the replication (reproduction) of the hepatitis C virus.  This study, that goes by the name of REALIZE , is testing the effect of VX-950 in patients with hepatitis C previously treated with peginterferon and ribavirin, who were non-responders to the therapy previously. The goal of this research study is to show that the addition of VX-950 to the combination of pegintron and ribavirin will result in an increase in the clearing of the virus in this difficult to treat population of patients.
